This course examines the role of law enforcement in emergency management. Students will examine the challenges faced by law enforcement agencies as they seek to protect communities while navigating new threats and safeguarding civil rights. Topics include the theory and ap- plication of community policing; police history and roles; the application and enforcement of criminal laws and procedure; and an overview of criminal justice system procedures and processes.
