Program Description
Providing graduates with the education and skills necessary for successful careers in public service and private industry, the Emergency Management curriculum prepares students for positions in disaster management, law enforcement, fire science, risk management, business continuity, military service, and public health among many others. The EM program requires students to complete at least two cooperative learning internships.
All first-year students participate in a two-week off-campus public service experiential learning program. Each year, we select a destination that provides students a meaningful, real-world opportunity to learn more about emergency management through hands-on experience. Previous partnerships have included Habitat for Humanity in Florida, Team Rubicon in California, and the Marshall Relief Alliance in North Carolina. Upperclass students have the opportunity to participate in overseas learning opportunities in Denmark and Guatemala.
Professional certificate options include OSHA training, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), and Paramedic, which can be taken on campus as part of a student's coursework. Students may also earn Massachusetts Firefighter I and II certification through our partnership with the Onset Fire Department.
